By creating an account or using Selah ("the service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use Selah. If you're under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has reviewed these terms with you.
You agree not to:
You retain ownership of the sermons, devotionals, notes, and chats you create or upload ("Your Content"). To operate the service we need a license from you:
You grant Selah a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, copy, process, transmit, transcribe, summarize, generate derivative works from (including AI-generated devotionals based on your transcripts), display, and distribute Your Content solely as needed to provide, improve, secure, and promote the service.
For content you explicitly make public or share (e.g., shared devotionals, public sermon notes), this license additionally covers showing it to the audiences you select. Notes and AI chat messages remain private and are never shared unless you opt in per devotional.
This license ends when you delete the content, except for: (a) copies retained in routine backups for up to 30 days, and (b) anonymized/aggregated data that no longer identifies you or your content.
You represent and warrant that (a) you own or have the necessary rights and permissions to upload Your Content and grant the license above, (b) Your Content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights, and (c) Your Content complies with these Terms and all applicable laws.
We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, review, refuse, edit, remove, hide, or restrict access to any content, and suspend or terminate any account, for any reason or no reason — including (without limitation) content that we believe violates these Terms, infringes someone's rights, exposes us to legal risk, or is otherwise harmful. We are not obligated to monitor content, but we may.
We are not a publisher of Your Content. Decisions to remove content are not endorsements of content we leave up.
Anyone can report content using the "Report" button on shared devotionals and public sermon notes, or by emailing the address on customdevotions.com. We aim to review reports within 72 hours.
If you believe content on Selah infringes your copyright, please send a DMCA notice including: (1) your physical or electronic signature, (2) identification of the copyrighted work, (3) the URL or sufficient detail to locate the material, (4) your contact information, (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized, and (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
We respond to valid DMCA notices by removing or disabling access to the material and may terminate repeat infringers' accounts.
Selah uses AI to draft devotionals and assist conversations. AI output can contain mistakes, hallucinations, or theological errors — verify scripture and theology against trusted sources before relying on it pastorally or sharing it publicly. You are responsible for content you publish or share, even if AI helped generate it.
Bible text is shown from licensed translations under their respective terms (e.g., NET Bible®). Some translations are linked to third-party sites (e.g., Bible Gateway) rather than displayed in-app.
Selah uses trusted third-party providers for hosting, database, authentication, email, transcription, and AI. Your use of the service is also subject to those providers' terms where applicable. We are not responsible for third-party services or content linked from Selah.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access — with or without notice — for any reason, including violation of these Terms, harm to other users, or risk to the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, licenses you've granted, warranties, indemnity, liability limits, dispute resolution) survive.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION. We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or doctrinally sound.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SELAH AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.
You agree to indemnify and hold Selah and its operators harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the service, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any third-party right (including intellectual property or privacy).
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Selah's operators reside, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to resolve disputes individually (not as part of a class action) in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where prohibited by law.
