Overview

Selah ("we", "us") provides tools to turn sermons, verses, and personal reflections into custom devotionals. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we protect it, and your choices.

What we collect

  • Account info: email, display name, profile photo, authentication metadata.
  • Content you create: sermon transcripts, devotionals, notes, chat messages, church profiles you create or join.
  • Audio uploads: recordings you submit for transcription. These are processed by our transcription provider and not retained longer than needed for processing.
  • Usage & diagnostic data: timestamps, IP address (transient), browser/device info, error logs used to keep the service running and secure.
  • Reports: if you submit a content report, we store the reason, details, and your email so we can follow up.

How we use it

To generate devotionals, store your library, sync across your devices, send transactional emails (sign-in, password reset), moderate the service, and improve reliability and security. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use Your Content to train AI models without your consent.

Sharing

Devotionals you explicitly share are visible to the audience you select (public link, specific users, or followers). Your notes and chat conversations are private unless you opt in per share. Public sermon notes and public church profiles are visible to everyone, including unauthenticated visitors.

We use trusted sub-processors strictly to operate Selah:

  • Hosting & database (Supabase / Cloudflare)
  • AI providers for devotional generation and chat (e.g., Google, OpenAI via Lovable AI Gateway)
  • Audio transcription (AssemblyAI, Supadata)
  • Bible text APIs (labs.bible.org, api.bible)
  • Transactional email (Resend)
  • Payments & subscription billing (Stripe) — we never see or store your card details

We may disclose information when legally required (subpoena, court order), to protect rights/safety, or in connection with a business transfer.

Data retention

  • Account & content: kept until you delete them or close your account.
  • Backups: deleted content may persist in routine backups for up to 30 days, then is purged.
  • Error & diagnostic logs: typically retained 30–90 days.
  • Audio uploads: deleted after transcription completes, unless you keep them in your library.
  • Content reports: retained for as long as needed for moderation and legal purposes.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, row-level security on the database, scoped service credentials). No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong password and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.

Children

Selah is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

Selah is operated in the United States and may process data in the U.S. and other countries where our sub-processors operate. If you use the service from outside the U.S., you consent to this transfer. We aim to comply with applicable data protection laws (including GDPR for EEA users) and honor verified requests to access, correct, or delete your data.

Your choices & rights

  • Hide your profile from public discovery in Settings.
  • Delete any devotional, note, or church you created at any time.
  • Delete your entire account from Settings (this purges your content, subject to the backup window above).
  • Email us to request a copy of your data, correction, or deletion.
  • EEA/UK users have additional rights under GDPR including objection and portability.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
