Unlocked: Discovering Your Payoff | Pastor Jonathan Evans

Main message: The cross of Christ has paid the full debt of our sins—when you trust Jesus your ledger is canceled and you are made alive in Christ. To experience that payoff personally you must accept God’s forgiveness, forgive yourself, and release others (forgiveness is not the same as automatic reconciliation).

• Paul’s picture (Colossians): we were dead in transgressions but are made alive and forgiven in Christ; our debt was nailed to the cross.
• The certificate/ledger of sins was legally cancelled by Jesus’ sacrifice so believers’ balances are “zero.”

• Many Christians remain “locked” because they refuse to forgive themselves or others; unforgiveness keeps you spiritually and emotionally captive.
• Forgiveness must be released (let them go); reconciliation may require repentance and is not always appropriate.
• Invitation to respond: accept Christ for forgiveness and come to receive prayer.
