The Bible’s Greatest Chapter

Main message: Romans 8 is a "grand chapter" showing the present reality and future hope of life in the Spirit: believers live now free from condemnation, adopted as God’s children, assured that present suffering pales before coming glory, being shaped into Christ’s likeness, and held by a generous God who gave his Son. The Spirit secures and transforms us so we can live confidently and generously.

• Overlook 1 (v.1): There is now no condemnation for those in Christ—“now” means this is immediately and continually true.
• Overlook 2 (v.15): We have not received a spirit of slavery/fear but a spirit of adoption; our primary voice is “Aba, Father,” not accusation.
• Overlook 3 (v.18): Present sufferings are real but cannot compare to the future glory that will be revealed.
• Overlook 4 (vv.28–29): God works all things for good for those he foreknew and is actively conforming believers into the image of his Son; God will finish his work in us.
