Main message: God’s steadfast, merciful love endures even amid suffering caused by sin; we are called to set our hope on that unfailing love, repent, and trust his faithfulness.

• In the midst of pain and loss (illustrated from Lamentations 3), remember and set your hope on the Lord’s steadfast love.
• Sin brought the brokenness and suffering in the world (Genesis 3; Deuteronomy’s blessings/curses), and discipline is real, but it’s given within God’s kind, patient purposes.
• God’s mercy never ceases and is renewed each morning; his patience is meant to lead people to repentance (Lamentations 3:22–23; Romans 2:4).
