Main message: Salvation is by faith in Jesus alone—ongoing struggles with sin do not nullify that salvation—and the Christian life is a process of progressive change (repentance and identity in Christ), not continual performance-based guilt.

• Believing in Jesus is the sole requirement for everlasting life; sinless perfection is not required for salvation (John 5:24; John 3:16; Eph. 2:8–9).
• Repentance means a change of mind and is part of a lifelong sanctification process; repeatedly confessing to earn forgiveness misunderstands what Christ accomplished.
• Christ has taken away our sins (blotted them out, nailed them to the cross); God no longer remembers them as condemnation (Heb. 10:17; Col. 2:13–14; Heb. 9:28).
• Confessing sins to others is for restoring relationships and accountability, not for securing God’s forgiveness; some sins are addressed only between a person and God.
• Combat shame by embracing your identity in Christ—speak the truths God says about you—and rely on the Holy Spirit; for others, pray and trust God rather than trying to change them yourself.
