Main message: Effective, transformative gospel ministry is fundamentally centered on Jesus and requires both the affirmation of baptism and the refining testing of the wilderness; true preaching proclaims the kingdom (already and not-yet), confronts people to repent and believe, and costs faithful sacrifice that no gimmick can replace.

Key points:

• Mark 1 (Jesus "came preaching") shows Jesus as both subject and object of the gospel; the content of preaching is the kingdom of God, both present and coming.
• Nothing substitutes for anointed preaching and ministry — not technology, entertainment, or marketing — because preaching uniquely opens doors, saves souls, and brings justice.
• Two “baptisms” are preconditions for effective ministers: water baptism (public affirmation of being changed) and wilderness baptism (suffering/testing that refines holiness and dependence on God).
• The wilderness purifies motives, strips pride and pretense, and produces “clean hands” needed before ministering to the church.
