Main message: God graciously pursues people who are going the wrong way—sometimes interrupting life with a "storm" to redirect and save them—so knowing about God must become obedient, heart-level knowing that changes behavior.

Key points:

• Jonah 1 shows God sent a violent storm to stop Jonah’s disobedience; God pursues and intervenes to rescue people from themselves.
• Not every storm is the devil’s work: some storms (Mark’s storm) oppose you when you’re in God’s will; some storms (Jonah’s) are sent by God to get you back on course.
• Our disobedience affects others (Jonah endangered the sailors) and we must own responsibility for consequences.
• There’s a difference between head knowledge/theology and lived obedience—knowing about God must become knowing Him (heart change) that shows in fruitful living.
• God’s grace provides where judgment might have been deserved (God prepared the fish to save Jonah), and God’s mercy will pursue and restore us.
