Main message: David’s coronation in 2 Samuel 5 models three steps for God’s people: crown the right King (Jesus), come together under him in unity, and then—by asking God and obeying—conquer the enemies that threaten us. When Jesus is publicly and practically acknowledged as King, he unites his people and fights on their behalf.

• Crown the right king: Israel crowned David because he was personal (one of them), proven, and God's promised ruler; Jesus is the greater David — personal, proven (miracles, death and resurrection), and the promised King.
• Public, ongoing submission: crowning Jesus isn’t a one-time confession but daily, public surrender (baptism, church commitment, calendars, finances, sexuality, work, speech, bodies).
• Come together under the King: unity in Christ (wholehearted, single-minded, celebrating together) is essential; set aside secondary disputes, pursue reconciliation, join community across ages/backgrounds.
• Conquer enemies by sequence: first inquire of the Lord, then obey his direction, and God will go before you to give victory; our main enemies include inward sin (anxiety, lust, pride, etc.) as well as external spiritual opposition—give God the credit for victories.
