Main message: God intends you to live a blessed life, and bold, sincere prayer like Jabez’s—rooted in faith, yielded to God’s will, and seeking God’s presence, provision, and protection—moves God to act. Prayer must be honest, unselfish, and accompanied by trust and readiness for the responsibility that blessing brings.

Key points:

• Blessing is God’s will and a choice; pray boldly and confidently (Hebrews 4:16), asking God for more because He can do far beyond our requests (Eph. 3:20).
• Jabez’s short, sincere prayer (1 Chron. 4:9–10) is a model: ask God to bless you, enlarge your territory, have His hand with you (presence/power), and keep you from harm.
• Many prayers go unanswered because people do not ask (James 4:2), lack faith (James 1:6), or pray selfishly (James 4:3); deepen your knowledge of God to deepen your prayers.
• Provision is meant to increase dependence on God and prepare you for future responsibility; ask also for the capacity to carry what God gives and for His presence, not just gifts.
• Ask for protection not only from enemies but from yourself—guard against pride, greed, and the pitfalls that can accompany blessing.
