Main message: God calls and forms people for his purpose before birth; when that divine gifting is revealed in time the enemy attacks the human vessel, and those trials are proof of the calling — "the fire won't go out." Persist in your calling and support one another because affliction confirms anointing and precedes God's promotion.

• Gifts are given in eternity but revealed in time; once revealed the enemy attacks the vessel since he cannot attack God directly.
• Affliction and opposition are normal signs of being gifted — attacks often mean the gift is real; "the fire shut up in my bones" won't go out.
• Distinction between being appointed (by birth/position) and being anointed (by calling) — conflict often arises when appointed leaders oppose anointed servants (Jeremiah vs Pashur).
• Endurance is required: suffering accompanies the gospel, but the same power that gifts also sustains and will ultimately vindicate and amplify the anointing.
• Encourage mutual support — hold one another through trials; God will increase the flame and bring vindication.
