Main message: Biblical Christianity is not about following a list of rules or rejecting religious devotion but about a relationship with God that shapes how we love others; Jesus’ parable of the two sons shows that both the “irreligious” younger son and the “religious” older son miss the point when they seek the Father’s things instead of the Father himself. The older brother’s self-righteousness blinds him to the father’s grace and keeps him outside the party.
