7/8/26 - Celebration of Life: Sheila Griffin

Main message: Jesus brings peace in the midst of life's storms and calls us to trust (not only in crisis), while death is a season God ordains that leads to comfort, reunion, and hope for the redeemed.

Key points:

• The story of Jesus calming the storm illustrates that Jesus can still chaotic circumstances with a word — "Peace, be still" — and rebukes our little faith when we panic.
• We tend to call on Jesus only when the seas get rough; faith means trusting Him before and during the storm.
• God's people are encouraged to wait on the Lord, be courageous, and find strength and peace in Him during trouble.
• Life has seasons (a time to be born and a time to die); death is part of God's ordained journey and is met with the hope of reunion and no more sorrow.
• A life of generous service (the "cup" metaphor / Proverbs 11:25) both blesses others and is sustained by God filling our cup.
